Who we are
The Rotaract Club of Port Elizabeth falls under the Rotary International District 9320. In existence since 1965, this well established Club had its origins as a Rotors Club. The Rotaract Club is a non-profit charity organisation that serves the community of Port Elizabeth.
Rotaract is one of a series of youth programmes created by Rotary International, which focuses on the development of young adults aged between 18 and 30, as leaders in their communities and workplaces by training and community service, both locally and abroad.
Our motto is ‘Service above Self’, which is a motto we take to heart within our group, and is evident in all that we do. We are actively engaged in the community by doing whatever we can to help those in need.
We are more commonly known by our annual fundraiser, namely the Uncle Jumbo’s Christmas Party which is assisted by the Rotary club of PE, where we raise funds for various charity work throughout the year.
The funds raised during the public shows go towards sponsoring an evening when the disabled and orphaned children in the Port Elizabeth, Uitenhage and Despatch area are invited to the party. For most of these children the presents we give them are the only presents they have ever received.
